Day 1: CHICAGO
Your journey begins with a motorcoach transfer to Chicago where you will overnight near the Chicago O’Hare International Airport in preparation
for your flight to Alaska tomorrow.
Day 2: FAIRBANKS
Catch your flight today to Fairbanks. Upon arrival, you will be greeted at the airport by a John Hall’s Alaska representative and transferred to Sophie Station Suites, your hotel this evening. Before retiring, journey to Aurora Pointe for a presentation by Mr. Frank Stelges. Frank is a well-respected photographer of the aurora and he will share his tips on how to properly set up your camera to be able to capture the northern lights. View the Aurora Borealis with your group tonight. Dinner is included today.
Day 3: DOG SLEDDING & AURORA VIEWING
After a group welcome breakfast and a leisurely morning around the lodge,
enjoy the classic cars of the Fountainhead auto museum before bundling up and heading to Susan Butcher’s Trail Breaker Kennels for an afternoon of Iditarod fun! Join a dog team for sled rides followed by a behind the scenes look at the kennel and the Monson family homestead.
After lunch, join the Fairbanks’ Curling Club for some Alaskan fun as you curl your way to a win! Spend time at the Museum of the North before having dinner with the folks at the Silver Gulch Brewery. Board your luxury coach for a short trip out of town to Borealis Basecamp, your home for the following two evenings. View the Aurora Borealis with your group from the comfort of a climate-controlled yurt, or in privacy from your domed room. All meals are included today.
Day 4: BOREALIS BASECAMP ADVENTURE DAY
After a late night of Aurora viewing, you will have the ability to sleep in.
Today will be spent enjoying one of several activities available to you at Borealis Basecamp. Launch into miles of wilderness via dog sled or snow machine, or take a refreshing snowshoe hike through the quiet forest with no sound except for the wind in the treetops. Your evening will be filled with the colorful skies of the Northern Lights as you again have the chance to capture these sights on your camera. All meals are included today.
Day 5: TALKEETNA & NORTHERN LIGHTS
Sleep in and then travel by coach to Talkeetna via the Parks Highway.
Make a lunch stop in Healy at Rose’s before arriving in Talkeetna later this evening for dinner and local entertainment. The Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge will have a fire roaring in the fireplace into the early morning hours for those who elect to view the Northern Lights and Mt. Denali from the lodge’s expansive back porch. All meals are included today.
Day 6: DENALI FLIGHTSEEING & DENALI BREWING CO.
Rise & Shine! The day will begin with brunch served family style at the
Talkeetna Roadhouse. After a chance to walk off some of the calories by
strolling the streets and shops of downtown Talkeetna, you may choose to purchase a two-hour flightseeing tour that highlights Denali, and includes
a fly-by of Hunter, Foraker, Silverthorne & Moose’s Tooth peaks before landing in the Great Gorge (additional cost for this excursion). Late this afternoon, partake in a tasting tour and behind the scenes look at one of Alaska’s most successful micro- brewery, the Denali Brewing Company. This is a great look at one of the fastest growing industries not only in Alaska, but nationwide and is the perfect transition to dinner in downtown Talkeetna. The Talkeetna Alaskan Lodge will again have the fireplace roaring for those who wish to spend time outdoors enjoying the Aurora light show. All meals are included today.
Day 7: MUSK OX FARM & ANCHORAGE
Relax this morning before making your way to the Palmer Musk Ox
farm to witness these prehistoric animals and learn about Alaska’s ongoing domestication project. Continue on to Anchorage for some fun, Alaskan-style shopping and lunch at your choice of several amazing venues. Check in
at the Lakefront Hotel, your home for the next two evenings before experiencing dinner at a John Hall’s Alaska favorite, Simon and Seafort’s, overlooking Turnagain Arm. All meals are included today.
Day 8: ALYESKA ADVENTURE DAY
Make your way to Girdwood and the beautiful Alyeska Resort.
You may choose to participate on one of the following activities: a day on the ski slopes (including lift ticket & rental gear), a day at the spa (choose from a
pre-selected menu of relaxing treatments), or go for a snowshoe hike on a path highlighting the glaciers and backcountry valleys of the Chugach Mountains. Lunch at the resort, then return to Anchorage. Regroup tonight for a farewell dinner at the Lakefront Hotel. All meals are included today.
Day 9: FLY HOME
After breakfast, transfer to the Anchorage airport to board your flights bound for home. From Anchorage you will fly back to Chicago where your motorcoach will return the group to pickup points. Breakfast is included today.
